THURSDAY'S by-election defeat for the DUP is the 'beginning of the end' for the party, the TUV's Keith Harbinson has said.
The first outing for the fledgling party resulted in 739 first preference votes, and a cut in the DUP's majority.
"We are absolutely delighted with our first preference poll which was 20 per-cent of the overall vote and 28 per-cent of the Unionist vote. For a party fighting its first election that is unbelievable," he added.
"It speaks volumes of the feeling out there."
Mr Harbinson said he 'firmly believes' it is the 'beginning of the end' for the DUP.
"It's a platform on which we can build. We have achieved something special here today. I firmly believe the fightback for Unionism across the Province has begun in Dromore today," he added.
