Appeal after man (43) assaulted at Thornhill

AN appeal for information has gone out after an incident a little over a week ago when a man was assaulted in Dromore.

The early morning attack took place on Sunday morning, January 15, in Dromore’s Thornhill Drive area.

The injured party was walking along Thornhill Drive at about 2am when he was assaulted by two men.

In the course of the attack the 43 year-old victim suffered facial bruising and an arm injury.

Police officers have spoken to a number of people and their enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing.

In the meantime they are appealing to the public for information.

A spokesperson said, “Anyone who witnessed the assault or has information in relation to this incident is asked to contact police on 0845 600 8000.

“If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Dromore DUP Councillor Paul Rankin echoed the police appeal for information on what he called a “disturbing” incident.

“As a local elected representative, a member of the Policing and Community Safety Partership and also a member of the Dromore Community Police Laison Committee, I would encourage anyone with any information on this incident to report it to the police.

“I have, and will always encourage people not to engage in such behaviour and to report any problems or incidents to the lawful authorities.

“It is disturbing when you hear of such incidents in your local area. We all hope to see the day when such incidents are a thing of the past.

“Unfortunately, there are still those people out there who engage in such activity.”
