Festive workshops promote Dromore revitalisation project

BANBRIDGE District Council are inviting the people of Dromore to deck the halls this Christmas with the help of a free Christmas Wreath making workshop in Dromore Town Hall on Saturday 8 December at 10am and 2pm.

These wonderful winter workshops are also an opportunity for local people to find out about the Dromore Revitalisation project.

The Dromore Revitalisation project is funded by the Department for Social Development and aims to improve the appearance of the town centre, in particular Church Street, Market Square and Bridge Street.

The elements within the project include: a paint scheme and virtual window project for Church Street, grant aid for property owners to install new shop fronts, tourism interpretation and a community garden/seating area in Market square with new planting.

The councils Arts, Events and Town Centre Manager, Mechelle Brown, said “The workshops are an ideal opportunity for local people to get involved in the larger project and especially the community garden and seating area which is going to be created in Market Square.

“We need the input from local people to ensure that what we create will meet the needs of everyone. We want our community to help design and build the area and the wreath making workshops are an ideal way to get people together to start to discuss ideas.”

The wreath making workshops are the first of a series of community consultation sessions organised by The Conservation Volunteers which will be held in Dromore town centre. Although the workshops are free, booking for either the morning or afternoon session is essential as numbers are limited. To reserve your place, please contact Joleen McColgan on T: 4066 0609.
