A DROMORE minister has this week reacted to the news that Boyzone have included a homosexual couple in their latest video.
The Rev. David McCullough, minister of Dromore Reformed Presbyterian Church, argues that it is an attempt to show homosexualit
y as a normal lifestyle.
Here, in a letter to the Leader, he outlines the Bible teaching on the issue of homosexuality.

DEAR Editor,
The latest Boyzone video that accompanies their newly released single 'Better' is far from good.
The romantic words and touching melody are accompanied by a video that features two young men staring into one another's eyes, holding hands, caressing one another's faces and at one point one man nuzzling his nose against the other man's cheek.
The video was the united decision of the group in support of band member Stephen Gately who 'came out' in 1999.
The message of the Boyzone video is yet another subtle effort of the homosexual propaganda machine. This video, that will be watched by millions, is sending out a deadly message to young people. It is stating that homosexuality is simply another norm. The video very cleverly interweaves softly lighted, black and white images of heterosexual couples with a homosexual couple. The message is plain and the often repeated drum beating of the homosexual lobby that says that homosexuality is a normal lifestyle.
The message from the God, who has made us, is very different. Despite the rising opinions of the masses, the unrelenting efforts of the media and sadly the compromised teaching of some churches the Bible is clear about homosexuality. It is a grievous sin against God, clearly condemned in the Bible. God gave them up to dishonourable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that were contrary to nature; and men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error (from Romans 1v26&27).
In spite of the message of some leading Anglican bishops the Bible is clear – homosexual desires and acts are rebellion against God, they are a perversion of God's good and perfect plan as outlined in the opening pages of the Bible, 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife and they shall become one flesh'. Genesis 2v24.
God's perfect plan was not Adam and Steve, but Adam and Eve in a lifelong covenant of marriage where they could enjoy the good gift of sex. Homosexual desires and behaviour are a clear violation of God's law. They are inherently unnatural. It is not a genetic disorder, not a biological defect – but sin. A sin that is gripping the lives of an increasing number in our society, a sin that is destroying many lives and like all sin has eternal consequences.
No doubt some will see this article as another gay bashing rant. Please understand it is far from that. It is the desire of this minister of Jesus Christ that men and women would be released from the bondage of their sin, find forgiveness and new life in the finished work of Jesus Christ. The Good News is that it is possible for a homosexual to repent of their sin, just as it is possible for a fornicating heterosexual to repent of their sin.
When the apostle Paul was directed by God to write to the church at Corinth he wrote, Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived, neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practise homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. I Corinthians 6v9-11
In other words in the church at Corinth there were people converted from all sorts of sinful lifestyles. But in the love of God they had been wonderfully changed, ransomed, healed restored, forgiven. That is what the gospel offers to Stephen Gately and any others trapped in the heinous sin of homosexuality. As a church we are willing and glad to help any seeking the healing that is found only in the gospel.
David McCullough, minister of Dromore Reformed Presbyterian Church

Homeosexuality IS normal to a homosexual! What a load of rubbish!! No one is asking God to watch the video. Thought he was suppossed to love all?? He's a hypocrite!! I have seen the video and it is fantastic. Offended by gay people?? Then don't bloody watch it! Rev. David McCullough is a narrow minded nerd who needs to go get himself a real life!!!!!! This is from a hetrosexual housewife with a gay brother. Oh and God didn't give a damn when he took Ronan Keating's mother away from him and his family so early in her life. God? God who?

This is typcial narrow minded bigotry from a Province of narrow minded bigots. All I can say is that I hope you don't get too much power devolved to you because otherwise gays who have the misfortune to live in Northern Ireland will not be secure in their rights. The UK legislature had to make sure you reecongised (through civil partnerships) our right to marry. And by the way it's time the sovereign legislature ensured that your women have the right to an abortion.

David McCullough your Theological ignorance amazes me. So many people like you for years have been mis interpreting the Bible in the name of Jesus, this is the root of homophobia. The word homosexual did not enter the Bible until 1958!! Translated originally from the Greek word 'malakoi', which is the plural of malakos, and the Greek word arsenokoites are both used in I Cor 6:9., KJV it is translated to effeminate from (Malakoi) which meant nothing to do with gay men in Greek times (& certainly not gay women) but it's meaning is unknown. Also 'abusers of themselves with manKIND' (from 'arsenakatoi') is also mis translated to different things in different Bibles! It can't be translated directly but has the words male sex and money in it usually 'boy prostitute'. Prostitutes and those that engage in them are the condemned in this scripture. There is no word for homosexual orinenattion used in the original Greek text in this scripture. There were however words for it but not here or anywhere with condemnation for that matter! Prostitution between young boys & old men (common in Biblical times) is not comparable to a gay person, born gay in a loving commited relationship that is natural to them. As a gay Christian I know that God made me the way I am. There is enough scientific evidence to prove that sexual orientation is determined in the womb! Science is often rejected in the begining, just like when Galileo proved the world is not flat and that the Earth revolves around the sun. The Bible says otherwise. But we cannot always take things so literally. Too many times is Romans 1:26-27 taken out of context! What Paul is talking about in his letter to the Romans, was what he saw the Paegans doing in Greece. They were Idol worshipors of the Greek goddesses Aphrodite & Diana. Hedonistic and full of lust for one another. Not ordinary people who are born gay & are in loving committed relationships in the way that is natural to them. He saw Roman Paegan Rituals and the way th

He saw Roman Paegan Rituals and the way that their lives were only about one thing, continuous promiscuity, as well as being muderous, greedy & walking away from God, worshiping Idols. God gave them up because they didn't want to know him. Paul saw men with women women with women and men with men but mentions the ones that were unusual to him. When he says he saw men & women turning from their 'natural' ways he means it as in the word 'unseemly'(KJV). The word unseemly used originally - meaning out of the ordinary! Natural is used (or mistransalted from 'para physin') as in the sense of the word as 'unusual & unexpected' something Paul had not seen before, not natural as in God's creation and the natural order of the universe. The word from the translation to natural is 'Para Physin', 'A study of the Greek Word suggests that there is no ethical condemnation in Paul's use of the para physin. In Romans 11:24, Paul uses the very same words to talk about God. Paul describes how God grafted the wild branch of the Gentiles into the cultivated olive tree that is the Jews. Now Jew and Gentile are one in Christ. But to graft a wild tree into a cultivated tree is not the ordinary thing to do.' (Quotation taken from, 'What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality'. Daniel A. Helminiak, Ph.D.)

Stop pushing gay people away from the church because of your Biblical misinterpretations, mis understanding and ignorance on sexual orientation!

On a final note let us all remember Galations 3:28 reads, 'there is neither male nor female, for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. !
