TOWN centre construction may have seen the 'Square' dancing relocated to The Ranch, but youngsters from the wider Dromore area had a ball just the same at the recent children's party in town.
An annual event, laid on free of charge for local children by Dromore's Community Charity Events Commmittee, the party is traditionally held in Market Square, but this year, thanks to work on the environmental improvement scheme around the Town Hall,
the kids partied at The Ranch as guests of Jim and Helen McFadden.
The change of venue still allowed the party-goers, children and adults alike, to enjoy the good weather and the Charity Events Committee hailed the day "a brilliant success".
"It was a huge success," said the committee's Joanie Branker. "A lot of children took part and there were plenty of mums, dads and grandparents too.
"It turned out to be a great day for the weather and the youngsters had a great time both outdoors and in."
The range of entertainment on the day included a magic show, a kids' disco and karaoke, the last, laid on by Peter Branker, a firm favourite with the young, would-be stars.
"The youngsters were up singing and they really enjoyed it," said Joanie. "It was great."
Spot prizes were up also up for grabs and ballot tickets were on sale for the committee's annual draw on September 12.

On behalf of the committee, Joanie thanked everyone who contributed in any way to the success of the day, particularly Jim and Helen McFadden for use of The Ranch.
Special thanks also went to Jackie McCracken, Jennifer Rankin, Gareth Maguire, Chris McDonald, Kelly Trimble, Paul Winters and Councillor Carol Black, for their contributions.
And there were thanks too for the wider community, for its continuing support of the committee's fundraising events, year after year.
Next for the committee is a dance in St. Colman's Hall from 9pm to 1am on Friday, October 3. Music by the Cowpats. Admission £5.
