DROMORE’S Autumn Leaves will be gathering later this week to celebrate the thriving social club’s fourth birthday.

It was four years ago this month that Mrs. Helen McFadden MBE launched the new club that was to go on to swiftly grab headlines with its very own ‘dare-to-bare’ charity fundraising calendar.

The club’s home-grown calendar girls spearheaded efforts – later to include a charity diary featuring its male contingent – that raised more than £3,000 for the Southern Area Hospice.

But meanwhile, back at The Ranch, in between the major events club members have continued to meet regularly for afternoon entertainment and outings.

Ahead of the club’s latest outing to Newcastle yesterday (Monday) founder Helen said the Autumn Leaves had continued to thrive and was still going strong.

Membership had increased, she said, with ‘Leaves’ gathering from far and wide, including Banbridge and Annalong.

The club meets each Wednesday from 2pm to 4.30pm with live music provided by regularly visiting artistes, including Paul Lilley, Trevor Dickson, Chris Betts, Derek Mawhinney and Tony Fitzpatrick, among others.

The Autumn Leaves celebrate their latest milestone this coming Saturday, January 21, with an anniversary dance – featuring Neil Walker - from 9pm ’til late at The Ranch.
