BOOKMARK - WEEK 12

SOMETHING absolutely bizarre happened in the Irish League last week.

Three of the main title contenders - Linfield, Glentoran and Portadown - failed to win their games away from home.

And Glenavon are sitting above Portadown in the league table. That's not bizarre, I just thought I'd mention it while I still can.

This week's betting starts on Friday night when Newry make the extraordinarly long trip to Limavady. Limavady are rock bottom of the league with only two points from six games, while Newry are still flying high in third place. Newry are 11/10.

Crusaders kick off at 3pm on Saturday afternoon against Donegal Celtic. DC will have a bit of confidence in them after drawing 3-3 with Glentoran last week, but I can't see the run lasting. Crusaders sit comfortably in mid table with eight points and are priced at 8/11.

Finally, Liverpool take on a Blackburn side who surprisingly sit above them in fifth place in the Barclays Premiership. Their current tally of 21 points after 10 games is identical to the pace set during that 1994-95 title-winning campaign. Liverpool, meanwhile, have their big Champions League Group A fixture at home to Besiktas on Tuesday so they might rest a few key players. Therefore I'm going for Blackburn at 9/5 to pull off a shock result.

If successful, backing Crusaders, Blackburn and Newry will return just over 200 on a 20 treble.
