BOOKMARK - WEEK 16
FOR all his talk last week Mark Weir promised so much but delievered so little - typical of the wee man, really.
Those of you who are interested (in other words none of you) I was not drowning my sorrows in Gran Canaria last week, rather celebrating an astonishing campaign by Northern Ireland in 30oC temperatures. Something else Mark forgot to share with all of you, I noted.
So it's fallen to me to get us back in the saddle with another Bookmark win. And hopefully Newry, Portadown and Leicester will set us on our way to doing that.
Crusaders are Newry's opponents at the Showgrounds this week and with the forthcoming addition of Portadown's Mickey Collins to their squad there is a certain buzz around Gerry Flynn's squad. Crusaders are underachieving and look set to continue to do so with a defeat tomorrow - City are 10/11.
Portadown will be hoping that Andy Smith finds his shooting boots once again as they take on lowly Donegal Celtic at Suffolk Road. I can't see DC getting a result, no matter how bad the Ports are at present - a 5-1 demolition of Larne will have boosted their confidence last weekend. They're priced at 4/5.
Finally this week I'll be looking to the Championship to complete this week's treble and a resurgent Leicester City squad. Now managed by Ian Holloway City have won one and drawn one under his leadership. Southampton will be missing seven key players which will hurt their chances of winning. Gary Lineker's favourite team are priced at 11/10.
A 20 treble backing Newry, Portadown and Leicester will return 144. Prices given are only a guide but for a full price list check toals.co.uk or visit their branch at Scarva Street, Banbridge.
