Dance like it’s 1999 in b.e.d

THE year was 1999….club culture was exploding, and dance music ruled the world.

In Northern Ireland DJs and producers like Robbie Nelson, Gleave Dobbin, and Mark Jackson were household names and had already started making their imprint on the international stage.

Records left the studio and instantly found their way onto dancefloors across the planet.

Clubs became super-clubs, DJs became the new rock stars, and record numbers of clubbers descended on venues each and every weekend.

Now the opportunity to relive those experiences is here as b.e.d nightclub in Newry parties Like It’s 1999 on Wednesday 11 July!

Robbie Nelson, Gleave Dobbin and Mark Jackson provide the soundtrack to the evening’s entertainment – the first time they will have performed together in the Newry and Mourne district since their celebrated residency at Spank at the Carlingford Bay Hotel over a decade ago.

Revellers can expect to hear the biggest tunes and vocals from what is fondly remembered as one of the best years in dance music history and relive the vibrant atmosphere that made it so addictive to the masses.

International DJ/producer Robbie Nelson, who frequently spins at clubs around the globe, says;

“1999 was part of the golden era of trance and a great time for groundbreaking music as the technology pushed forward.

“It was a special year for me as Chris and I (Agnelli and Nelson) had our second Top 20 hit and Number 1 in every dance chart around the world with ‘Everyday’.

“It’s almost as long ago I used to play at Spank in the Carlingford Bay Hotel with Gleave and Mark. I’m sure it’s at least 12 years since I’ve performed with those guys in the Newry area.

“b.e.d. is also a great club to play in so I’m really looking forward to this gig. It promises to be something very special.”

The legendary Robbie Nelson (Agnelli & Nelson), Gleave Dobbin and Mark Jackson join together for a night of dance music classics just Like It’s 1999 at b.e.d. nightclub, Newry, on Wednesday 11 July.

Doors open from 10pm to late with admission only £5 before 11pm. For regular event updates and a chance to win free passes to the event search ‘Like It’s 1999’ on Facebook.
