Dromore 2012 - the shape of things to come

A YEAR of major regional, national and international milestones, 2012 is shaping up to be significant for Dromore too, thanks to the combined efforts of some local Christians.

Between them they have put together under the umbrella of ‘Dromore 2012’ a programme of events due to run from April 9-29.

From Kids’ Bible Week to Youth Outreach, Go-karting to Olympics, Barbecue to Dessert Night and Men’s Fitness Evening, the events are designed to appeal to all age groups.

A spokesperson for organiserss said, “2012 heralds an interesting year for all sorts of reasons - the London Olympics, Euro 2012, The Irish Open at Royal Portrush for the first time in 65 years and the 100th anniversary of the maiden voyage of the Titanic.

“Running from 9 until 29 April, ‘Dromore 2012’ is a combined initiative involving a number of Christians within Dromore. The aim is to share the truth of Jesus and the fulfilment He can bring to broken lives of the people who live in the town.”

Also lined up is a homegrown ‘Question of Sport’ involving local, Christian sportsmen, and the aforementioned Titanic finds a place among the programme highlights at an April 14 Historical Evening examining the story of the ill-fated liner from a Christian perspective.

Dromore High School will for seven nights play host to Billy Patterson, who as well as preaching at the school will be speaking at a number of the other events

Organisers also urged locals to get in touch with any prayer requests.

“If there is anything you would like us to pray about,” the spokesperson said, “either on your behalf or for someone you care for, please send an email to info@dromore2012.com, with the assurance that any details you provide are given in strictest confidence.”

More information on what’s happening during each day of the programme is available on the ‘What’s On’ page of the event website – www.dromore2012.com.
