Former Dalriada pupil killed in Scottish avalanche

A former pupil of Dalriada School in Ballymoney has been killed in an avalanche in Scotland.

Dr Una Finnegan, aged 25, was one of four climbers killed in an avalanche on Bidean Nam Bian, a 3,700 feet peak in the notorious Glencoe area on Saturday.

Dr Finnegan came from a respected medical family in north Antrim, her father being Dr Owen Finnegan, now retired.

The party of climbers, who were described as experienced winter walkers, were swept 1,000 feet down the peak.

One woman is in a very serious condition in hospital and a man escaped with minor head injuries.
