YFC '˜hunters' return to tuck in at feast hall

Annaclone and Magherally Young Farmers' Club continued its busy summer schedule with its annual Treasure Hunt and barbecue on Friday.

Some 22 cars completed the treasure hunt before returning to the club hall for the barbecue.

A spokesperson said: “The club would like to thank everyone who attended the event.

“Numerous club members also competed in the Northern Ireland Finals of the Silage Assessment and Stockjudging Competition, held at AFBI, Hillsborough, on Thursday, July 7.

“There was success for the club across all sections of judging.

“Congratulations must go to all the members of Annaclone and Magherally YFC who qualified for the finals.”

The following members of the club were placed in the overall top six - Silage Assessment: 18-21 Andrew Sleator 5th; 21-25 Stuart Cromie 6th; 25-30 Stephen Cowan 4th. Beef Stockjudging: 21-25 Ruth Thompson 2nd; Dairy Stockjudging: 18-21 Stuart Hanna 4th; 21-25 Noel Savage 3rd; 25-30 John Porter 3rd; Stephen Cowan 4th.

Sheep Stockjudging: 16-18 James Boyd 3rd; 18-21 Scott Cromie 2nd.

Upcoming events for Annaclone and Mahgerally YFC include a Big Breakfast and Information Morning on Saturday August 20 at the Club Hall, Ballydown Road, Banbridge.

“This is a morning for any potential new members, local community and friends of the club, to get a ‘Big Breakfast’, whilst finding out information about the club,” the spokesperson said.

“New Members’ Night will be held on Wednesday August 24 at the club hall in Banbridge.

“ Everyone aged between 12-30 is welcome to this night of fun and games.”
