When police spoke to a Dromore woman who was sitting in a car which had two flat tires they could smell alcohol on her breath, a court has heard.

At Banbridge Magistrate’s Court on Thursday Rachael O’Connor (46) of Hampton Court was banned from driving for 12 months. For driving with excess alcohol on her breath on August 10 this year she was also fined £200 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

She was certified as suitable for the drink-driving course which would reduce her ban by a quarter on completion.

The court heard police received a report of a drunk driver at 12.50am at Prospect Way, Dromore. A breath test gave a reading of 86.

A defending solicitor said O’Connor, who was was fleeing her home because of family matters and had ongoing issues with alcohol, was deeply sorry.
