A 54-year-old man accused of breaking a sexual prevention order by wearing fetish clothing while sitting in a parked car is to contest the charge.

Joseph Harry Hathaway, Ballymore Road, Tandragee, appeared last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

The charge against him alleges that on August 6 this year at Mandeville Road, Craigavon, being the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order without reasonable excuse remained in a parked vehicle in a public place whilst wearing fetish clothing, an act he is prohibited from doing.

A police officer said he was familiar with the evidence in the case and believed he could connect the accused with the charge.

A barrister representing Hathaway said the charge would be contested.

Deputy District Judge Neil Rafferty released the defendant on continuing police bail.

The case was adjourned until September 14 so that a date could be fixed for a contested hearing.
