After filling her trolley at Tesco in Banbridge a 57-year-old woman left the store without paying for the goods.

Anne Simmons, Iveagh Park, Banbridge, admitted a shoplifting offence when she appeared last Thursday at the local court.

The court heard that on August 8 this year at Tescoon the Castewellan Road she was seen filling her trolley with goods before leaving without making any attempt to pay.

Police watched the CCTV of her getting into a car.

It was registered to her and they called at her address.

She said: “It was a mistake.”

The value of the goods stolen was £209.38 and most of them were fit for re-sale with only £52.95 outstanding.

She had a record for similar matters.

The case was adjourned until October 1 for a pre-sentence report.
