Radiologist guilty of voyeurism

A radiologist faces the prospect of up to a year in jail after he confessed to voyeurism by secretly installing recording equipment.

Dr Mark McClure (48) was due to be sentenced at Lisburn Magistrates Court today (Thursday), but his defence lawyer asked for it to be adjourned as there were “substantial issues” with reports compiled for the hearing.

McClure, with an address now at Hazelwood Lane in Lisburn but whose previous home, on the Edentrillick Road in Hillsborough is currently on the market for £695,000, had pleaded guilty to two counts of voyeurism on 18 and 23 February last year in that he “installed equipment or constructed or adapted a structure or part of a structure with the intention of enabling yourself or another to commit an offence under Article 71(1) of the Sexual Offences (Northern Ireland) Order.”

Two other charges of voyeurism alleging that he recorded another person doing a private act to obtain sexual gratification without consent were not proceeded with.

The court has yet to hear the facts giving rise to the charges but amongst the offences McClure, who practices out of the Hillsborough Private Clinic as well as working in the NHS, has pleaded guilty to installing an Apple IPhone “with the intention of enabling yourself or another to commit an offence under the Sexual Offences Order 2008.”

Adjourning passing sentence to 13 January next year, District Judge Rosie Watters ordered a new probation presentence report.
