A 22-year-old man has been banned from drinking alcohol before his trial at Craigavon Crown Court for a serious assault charge.

Curtis Lutton, Selshion Parade, Portadown, appeared at a preliminary enquiry last Friday at Craigavon courthouse.

The first charge against him alleges that on March 12, 2014, he assaulted a male occasioning him actual bodily harm. He is also accused on intending to pervert the course of justice on March 27, 2014, by making a statement to police that he had been assaulted having previously caused injury to himself. Lutton was remanded on his own bail of £500 to appear for arraignment at Craigavon Crown Court on November 15.

His bail conditions include a curfew from 8pm to 6am and he is not to contact the injured party or any witness directly or indirectly. He is also to stay off licensed premises, not to possess alcohol or to consume alcohol.

“That if a complete alcohol ban,” said District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly.
