'˜Time to slow down' driver told at court

A seven day driving ban was imposed on a 23-year-old woman last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court.

Tanya Bethel, Grove Hill, Banbridge, was also fined £80 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy for an excess speed offence.

The court heard she was travelling at 37mph in a 30mph zone on June 9 last year.

She was offered a fixed penalty but could not take it up because she did not have both parts of his licence.

A solicitor representing the defendant said she accepted she was driving too fast but it was not the highest of speeds.

He added that she was reliant of her licence and asked that the court consider a short disqualification.

She had obtained her licence in March last year.

Imposing the short disqualification instead of points District Judge, Mr Alan White, told the defendant it was ‘time to slow down’.
