A Dromore youngster with a talent for colour has landed a runners-up spot in a UK-wide World Book Day competition.

Little Anna Herron, who attends Dromore’s Old Station Nursery, was only three years-old when her competition entry was submitted.

Now aged four, she was reportedly thrilled when she learned of her success in the competition, run through the Book Trust.

Old Station manager Maureen McClearn was herself pleased to receive the letter informing her: “One of your entries submitted for World Book Day’s colouring competition, by Anna, has been chosen by Dear Zoo creator, Rod Campbell, as a runner-up.

“He was impressed by Anna’s neatness of line and choice of colours for her age.”

Said Maureen: “Anna was delighted when I told her how well she had done in The Dear Zoo competition.

“ She had a smile to brighten up any room.

“Anna spent almost two days colouring in her sheet; she took so much pride in it and it has shown in her winning this prize.

“We as a nursery promote all children to take part in various activities to aid their development.

“World book day is a fantastic website with lots of ideas for books, activities etc; I would recommend all parents to register with them.

“We were all so proud of Anna. A massive ‘well done!’”
