The congregation of First Rathfriland Presbyterian Church are in the final stages of preparation for a special week of mission to be held in March.

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland Rt Rev Dr Ian McNie will preach at the morning service and open the mission on Sunday 13th March at 11.30am.

Rev William Bingham, minister of Mourne Presbyterian Church, will be the special speaker. He will speak at the Sunday evening service (7pm) as well as the weeknight services running from the 14th to 18th March (8pm).

Rev Andrew Mullan, associate minister at Mourne Presbyterian Church, will be the guest speaker at the youth night to be held on Saturday 19th March at 7.30pm. Youth groups are more than welcome to come to this service. Refreshments will be served after in the church hall.

Rev Trevor Boyd is extending an open invitation for people to attend the Mission.

He said: “Our Gospel Mission Committee has had the responsibility for organising and preparing the mission and has been led by our Clerk of Session, Mr David McDowell.

“They have put together a series of events and we as a church have been praying that God would move mightily through the Mission to bring lost souls back to Him.

“We want to use the Mission as an opportunity for people once connected to our church to come back into our fellowship again and to bring their families too. Everyone that comes along will be made most welcome.”

During the week, testimonies will be given by Rev Seamus Burke, Miss Hilda Spiers and Mr Tyrrell Arnold (Waringstown).

Music will be led by the Mourne Male Voice Choir on Sunday 13th at 7.00pm and at the closing night on Sunday 20th March by Rathfriland Silver Band, also at 7.00pm.

Tea will be served after each service in the church hall and there will also be a bookstall with literature provided by The Good Book Company.
