The passing of Mrs Ellen Brown, formerly of Millmount House and Reilly Park

took place at the Lagan Valley Hospital, Lisburn on New Years Day, 1st January.

Nellie as she was affectionately known to her many friends and acquaintances was formerly Miss Ellen Jardine.

She had lived in Banbridge all her life and had been in Rosevale Lodge Care Home Lisburn, since July 2015 and had been taken into Lagan Valley Hospital on the 29th December.

She was in her 98th year and had seen many changes through her life.

She was married to James Brown and was a devoted mother to her son Melvyn and her twins Ian and Yvonne.

Unfortunately she sustained a great loss on the tragic passing of her son Melvyn. She had worked at Ballydown Weaving Factory and then Banbridge Hospital where she spent most of her working life on the Domestic Staff mostly in the Physiotherapy Department.

She was a woman of a charming and friendly disposition and endeared herself toeveryone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A lifelong member of Scarva Street Presbyterian Church she was a regular attender at worship.

She is survived by her son Ian, daughter Yvonne, son-in-law Tom (Lisburn) grandchildren Ashleigh, Gareth, Jill, Lynne, Laura and James, great grandchildren Reeve, Kai, Ollie and Reuben, sister Mrs Helen Crawford (Canada) and brother Mr Douglas Jardine (Oregon).

To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.

The funeral took place onMonday from William Bell and Co. Funeral Home and was conducted by the Rev. Andrew Watson who gave an inspiring address of her life.

The interment took place in the family plot in the New Cemetery.

Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Banbridge Visually Impaired Person Club.
