Get a Zest for Christmas

A GILFORD coffee shop that provides dedicated work placements to 15 adults with a learning disability has announced its plans for Christmas.

Zest at Bannvale House, 10 Moyallen Road, has a cornucopia of stunning ideas for Christmas. With a special wish tree and beautiful gifts, visitors are sure to find that perfect gift and welcome refreshments from friendly and dedicated staff.

Daytime Opportunities Worker Katrina McCauley explains: “We’ve extended our ‘Made By Us’ range of pre-order homemade favourites to include Christmas cakes, puddings, mince pies, chutneys and shortbread. Our made-to-order range of desserts have been a huge success in 2012 and will be available up to 21 December.

“We’re also delighted to announce that we have a Starbucks Coffee franchise which we are sure will encourage even more visitors!

“Monday 3 December marks International Day of people with disabilities and Zest is a great example of adults with a learning disability holding down placements and contributing to society. I would also like to thank A Touch Of Class for their expertise in decorating Zest.”

Zest Coffee Shop is open Monday-Friday 9.30am-3.30pm during December. Further information is available by contacting Katrina on 028 3883 3269.

The men and women who have placements at Zest Coffee Shop are supported to access services in the community so that they can become more independent, as outlined in the recent Transforming Your Care review which will shape health and social care in Northern Ireland in the 21st Century.
