In a row over rent a 42-year-old man grabbed his partner by the neck and threw her against a wall, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.
Nicolae Puschi, Corcrain Drive, Portadown, admitted common assault on a female on August 10 this year.
He was sentenced to two months in prison, suspended for 12 months.
The court heard that at 6pm police received a report of a domestic incident at Thomas Street in Portadown.
The injured party had redness to the right side of her neck and claimed that the defendant had grabbed her by the neck and left arm and slammed her into a wall.
Mr Richard Monteith, representing the defendant, said his client spent two days in police custody as a result of this incident.
He explained that Puschi had been working in Spain and the injured party had invited him to come to Portadown
Mr Monteith added that his client had paid a deposit and a month’s rent and this developed into an argument. Puschi accepted he pushed the injured party.
He said that the defendant wanted to return to Spain.
