Gransha group commended as it holds annual meeting

Gransha Rural Development Community Association has been commended for its ongoing work in the area.

The tribute came as the local community group held its Annual General Meeting at Gransha Hall recently.

Dromore councillor, Alderman Paul Rankin, who officiated at the election of officers and committee said he was honoured to have been invited.

“I would commend GRDCA for their continued good work within the local community and wish them well for their plans for 2015/16,” he said.“I would pay tribute to the out-going office bearers and committee and congratulate the new office-bearers and committee on their election.”

The newly elected office-bearers include Chairperson, Verdun Bond; Vice-chairperson, Helen Malcolmson; Secretary, Sandy Rankin; Assistant secretary, Trevor Smith; Treasurer, Rhoda Bond; Assistant Treasurer, Beth Megarry.

A spokesperson said anyone interested in joining the group - which meets at 8pm on the second Tuesday of every month - would be made welcome.

The Association is hosting a Hallowe’en party from 7-9pm on Friday, October 30, in Gransha Orange Hall.“There will be fun and games for all ages,” the spokesperson said, “and prizes for best fancy dress in both children and adults’ sections, also best decorated pumpkin. Supper will be served and admission is free.

Upcoming events also include a supper dance in Dromore Rugby Club on Saturday, November 21, 8pm-late. Music to suit all ages. The annual family fun quiz night is on February 19 next year.

Meanwhile, the clothes bank remains in the hall car park for anyone wanting to dispose of clothes, belts, handbags, shoes curtains etc - all for a worthy cause.
