Academy student Jenna shines at awards ceremony

Banbridge Academy Year 13 student Jenna McDowell shone when she was recognised for her excellent GCSE results.

Jenna who plans to study medicine or pharmacy attended a ceremony at the Stormont Hotel along with her parents Lynda and Chris and Principal Pollock.

The CCEA GCSE Awards Ceremony was in recognition of her excellent GCSE results.

Jenna achieved a number of first including overall first highest marks in Northern Ireland in Additional Mathematics and Biology.

In addition, she also achieved overall joint first highest marks in Chemistry and Geography.

Also at the ceremony, were subject teachers Dr Coulter, Mrs Francey and Mrs Leslie.

Jenna also received the John Magaud Memorial Cup for excellence in Mathematics. And she is the proud recipient of an Excellence Award from the Royal Geographical Society in recognition of one of the highest examination marks in GCSE Geography in the UK. Overall, the Coolnacran Road student has achieved nine A* (plus 2 A* short course) in her GCSEs.

Jenna, attributes her success to commitment and dedication to her studies, in addition to teachers, family and friends who have encouraged and inspired her to achieve so much.

She is now studying Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Spanish to AS level, and would like to study Medicine or Pharmacy at university.
