Accused ‘has no case to answer’ says court

A Ballyward man recently facing a charge of sexual assault on a female has no case to answer.

That was the conclusion of Newry Crown Court last Monday, April 7.

The court directed, upon an application by the defence, that the defendant, Stephen Collins, of Carnaloe Road, had no case to answer .

The 22 year-old had previously indicated, at an earlier sitting of Banbridge Magistrate’s Court, his intention to contest the charge, which arose in respect of an alleged offence on August 25 last year.
