Banbridge fan delighted to meet television duo in Belfast

A Banbridge woman was delighted when she met one of TV’s most famous comedy duos Ant and Dec.

Michelle Sexton who works in a local pharmacy met the presenters recently when they were in Belfast for Britain’s Got Talent auditions.

Michelle met the chirpy pair at the hotel they were staying and then again at George Best Belfast City airport.

Pop mogul Simon Cowell was at centre stage at the Waterfront Hall as judge for the auditions but Michelle said she and her friends “weren’t interested in the judges”.

The presenters said they had been itching to bring the show to Belfast for a number of years. Now their wish has come true as the BGT cameras started rolling for the first time last week.

Michelle described Ant and Dec as “complete gentlemen”. She said: “They were very chatty and so normal.

“In fact they are always really down to earth and let us get our photos taken with them. It’s never a bother for them to stop and talk.

“They chatted as normal and said how they loved coming over a and that they can’t wait to come back for Saturday Night Takeaway shows later in the year.”

But for Ant and Dec, the trip to Belfast waslong overdue.

“We’ve been badgering the production team for years to come to Northern Ireland and do the auditions and we’ve finally got here,” said Dec – whose father was from Draperstown.

This wasn’t the first time Michelle has met a celebrity - in fact she is becoming a regular celebrity spotter and says her favourite celebrity sighting has been Mikey Graham from Boyzone.

“Mikey is so nice and I have got to meet him loads. He can’t do enough for his fans and is so genuine.”
