The Advisory Councils of the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough will be holding a series of information sessions to inform clubs and talented sporting individuals about their new harmonised grants.

The grants for clubs concentrate mainly on their governance and clubs can access up to £500 to help them qualify their coaches in governing body awards, or their volunteers in child protection or first aid courses.

Talented athletes who are playing their sport at a representative level can access funding of up to £300 to assist with the costs they incur.

Clubs and talented athletes must be affiliated to their Sports Advisory Council and will need to register to attend the Banbridge information session.

It will take place on Thursday 26 November at 6.30pm in Banbridge Civic Building. To register contact Sarah Aiken on 0284 0660 637 or [email protected].

There will also be information evening on Tuesday 24 at 6.30pm in Craigavon Civic & Conference Centre and on Monday 30 November at 6pm in the Hayloft, Palace Stables, Armagh.

Lord Mayor Councillor Darryn Causby praised the progress.

“I am delighted that through the harmonisation of the grants, the same level of financial support is available to sports clubs and talented athletes,” he said.
