Appeal for extra vigilance

DAVID Simpson MP is appealing to all drivers to be extra vigilant on the roads as we approached the winter months.

Mr Simpson said, “Sadly preventable accidents happen on our roads; to date in 2012 there has been 36 road deaths in Northern Ireland.

“This is the time of year when we are all rushing around in preparation for Christmas but I am appealing to all drivers to be extra vigilant as we come into the festive season.”

“I call on all drivers to have a heart when they put themselves behind the wheel. It is important to recognise that you have other lives in your hands when we set out on the roads. I hope that everyone will make a commitment this winter to follow basic road safety rules by; not speeding, not drinking and driving and wearing their seat belts at all times.”

“By following these road safety measures we can all help prevent further road fatalities.”
