Boiler replacement scheme welcomed

LAGAN Valley MLA Jonathan Craig has welcomed Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland’s launch of the Boiler Replacement Scheme.

The scheme, which will offer grants of up to £1,000 for a condensing boiler, is expected to reduce fuel poverty and help 16,000 homes become more energy efficient.

“The launch of the full Boiler Replacement Scheme following a pilot scheme will greatly benefit many of the vulnerable individuals in our society, said the DUP’s Mr. Craig.

“This considerable opportunity is offering grants of up to £1,000 for home-owners earning up to £20,000 and £500 for those with a household income of less than £40,000, who have a boiler of 15 years or older.

“This scheme will prove advantageous to many people who would be considered as living in fuel poverty and will provide substantive financial help to replace old heating systems.

“I welcome this as a positive announcement and urge anyone who feels they would be eligible to call 0300 200 7874 for more detailed information.”
