Carol service at Poyntzpass

POYNTZPASS Silver Band again hosted the annual Poyntzpass Community Carol service in the Community Centre, Poyntzpass on 23 December 2012 at 3pm led by local clergy.

The band had 30 members in attendance conducted by Dessie Watson.

This year the ‘Choirs of the Passes’ which was formed for the Culture Day in September, took part and helped make this event one of the most successful to date.

The hall was filled to capacity with everyone joining in carol singing accompanied by the band.

The ‘Choirs of the Passes’ sang three beautiful pieces: ‘Still, Still, Still’, ‘Away in a Manger’, and ‘The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy’. They were led by Siobhan Taylor and accompanied on piano by Rev Dunn.

Poyntzpass Community Association provided tea and refreshments after the event. This was one of the final engagements for Poyntzpass Silver Band after a busy Christmas season which included playing around village Christmas trees, at church services and in shopping centres.
