LAST week saw Dromore Library return to its re-opened Town Hall home following a lengthy period of extensive repair and renovation.

Margaret Bell, Operational Manager with Libraries NI, thanked customers for their patience.

“We are delighted,” she said, “that the refurbishment has resulted in a more attractive library, which now offers an enhanced service to people in the Dromore area and the new entrance, at the side of the building, will also ensure safer access for library users.

“Thank-you to all our customers for their patience while the work was ongoing.

“Library staff are looking forward to welcoming everyone to see the exciting improvements and we hope many people will visit to see what services are available and to join Dromore Library.”

On Saturday, the town centre was given over to a fun day to mark the re-opening of the Town Hall.

Dromore Ulster Unionist Councillor Carol Black said afterwards she was delighted to have seen so many young families enjoying the event.

“It really was very satisfying,” she said, “to see the little ones enjoy a day of fun and activities.

“Speaking to many mums, they said that Banbridge District Council should put on more events like it.” Of the new-look Town Hall itself, she added, “The Town Hall is a credit to the contractor and the architects; the detail in every area has given us something to be very proud of.

“The newly refurbished kitchen, toilets and the meeting room will give the community of Dromore a central place to hold group meetings on a regular basis.

“I must say the Library is a place to visit over the next few weeks and Libraries NI have put a lot of thought into the layout,

“I noticed they have new stock of books, some very retro furniture, a very plush seating area and funky little chairs for the children’s department.

“They have extra computers and I am delighted to say the elevator is there for our senior citizens, the disabled and young mums with prams.”
