CHURCH FOCUS: TAKING TO THE STREETS FOR EASTER OUTREACH
MEMBERS of the congregation at First Dromore Presbyterian Church took to the streets around the church on Saturday morning to deliver copies of the Gospel of St. Luke to hundreds of local homes.
The door-to-door distribution was part of a wider initiative from the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, an Easter outreach campaign entitled 'Awake to Jesus'.
Minister at First Dromore, the Rev. Keith Duddy, said ahead of the distribution, "What we're doing is drawing a circle around the immediate housing area; we reckon we'll be calling at several hundred homes.
"Hopefully we can manage it all in one day."
Among the housing developments falling within the target area were the Spires, the Belfry, the Priory, Church Meadows, Church Green, Heronwood, Beresford Green and Beresford Hill.
Mr. Duddy explained that while the church habitually distributed copies of the Evangelical Times each Christmas, this was its first such Easter outing.
Included in the distribution along with the Gospel of St. Luke was a letter inviting local residents to attend a week of Bible readings from that self-same gospel.
Taking place during the week before Easter (Sunday, March 28 - Easter Sunday, April 4) the event will feature three different readers each night, between them covering the entire Gospel of St. Luke.
Sunday readings will begin at 6pm, while weekday readings will begin at 8pm; everyone is welcome.
