Gladys receives security equipment from DUP
UPPER Bann DUP MLA Stephen Moutray has presented a Banbridge senior citizen with additional home and personal security equipment following a recent break in at her home.
Gladys Hamilton was robbed of her pension by two men who broke into her Kenlis Place house and stood over her as she lay in bed.
Speaking after visiting Mrs Hamilton along with local councillor Junior McCrum, Mr Moutray said, “People who have given a lifetime of service to the local community deserve to be treated with respect and deserve to be able to live free from the fear of crime.
“This was a shocking and deplorable incident and it is a tremendous testimony to Mrs Hamilton’s courage and resilience that she is recovering as well from it as she is.
“One of the things that people who have been the victim of such crimes often feel is nervousness about their safety in the aftermath of such an event. I wanted to make this small presentation to Mrs Hamilton in order to provide a little additional home and personal security. This included personal and door alarms and other measures that offer a greater degree of protection.
“Those who were responsible for this need to be brought to book for their activities. And I would again appeal for anyone with any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant it might appear to them, to go to the police. The entire community needs to get such criminals off the streets.”
Meanwhile the PSNI have confirmed to the Leader that nobody has been arrested in relation to the burglary at Mrs Hamilton’s home.
