HELP ON ITS WAY
HELP is on its way to the starving people of troubled Zimbabwe - thanks to the generosity of people in Dromore.
The town's Oasis Coffee Shop and Care Shop, which are run by the Elim Pentecostal Church, recently bought 1,000 worth of rice from the proceeds taken on Saturday, 30th August.
Earnings from both shops go towards missionary work in various places in Africa and the local church recently presented a cheque for 1,000 to Pastor Ray Cotter, Director of Irish Missions, for that purpose.
The Mission Committee would like to thank the people of Dromore, the surrounding area and further afield for their support and generosity.
Thanks also go to the volunteers who gave of their time and energy while manning both shops.
Each Christmas, the congregation, customers of the shops and the general public, also fill boxes for the needy in Zimbabwe. Last year ten truck load of boxes were delivered.
The customers of both establishments have been very generous in donating personal care items, and food parcels for Zimbabwe. Boxes include rice, sugar, salt, lentils, dried peas, dried milk, sardines, tuna, corned beef, cooking oil, boiled sweets, baby towels, vests, soap, towelling nappies, baby cream, Vaseline, baby oil and Calpol.
The ladies of the Senior Citizens' Club in Dromore have also come on board by filling several boxes with similar items and producing many hand knit cardigans and cot blankets.
If anyone has a few hours to spare and would like to help in either shop, the committee would be very grateful. Opening hours for both shops is 10am to 4pm.
