Hide valuable goods in cars, police warn
POLICE in Banbridge are reminding motorists to remove all valuables from their vehicles when unattended.
The reminder comes following a number of incidents where cars were broken into and handbags taken.
On Tuesday, 29 January two vehicles were broken into in Rathfriland and Banbridge. The window of a black Toyota Corolla car, parked at Ballyroney Road, Rathfriland, was smashed and a handbag taken. This was reported at 7.40pm.
At 7.59pm it was reported that the window of a red Vauxhall Corsa, parked at Eelwire Road, Banbridge, was broken and a handbag taken.
Police are appealing to anyone who has information in relation to these incidents to contact them.
They are also reminding motorists to ensure their vehicles are locked and remove all valuables. If a thief sees something of value sitting in your car then they will break in to get it.
Simple precautions such as closing the windows and locking the doors of your vehicle and locking valuable items in the boot of your car, or removing the face plate from your in-car stereo system can help ensure that your valuables will be kept safe.
Improved car security features such as alarms, immobilisers and tracking devices can also help protect your vehicle and your valuables.
