Man faces trial over child porn charges
A 50-year-old local man is to go on trial charged with a catalogue of serious child pornography charges.
The civil servant who can’t be named for legal reasons, appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at last Thursday’s local magistrates court.
His trial will get underway at Newry Crown Court on 14 March and he was released on continuing bail.
He is charged with 16 counts of making indecent photographs of a child, two counts of possessing prohibited images of a child and a count of possessing an extreme pornographic image.
In addition he was charged with making 103 indecent images of a child.
These charges allegedly occurred between 6 October 2010 and 16 October 2010.
A PPS prosecutor told the court that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
