Police issue reminder on parking

MOTORISTS in Banbridge are being asked by Police to be mindful of parking restrictions.

The reminder comes following a number of complaints about double parking in the town centre which creates congestion and obstructions for other motorists.

Inspector Jacqui Gillespie, Banbridge Neighbourhood Policing Team, explained: “Thoughtless parking not only causes a nuisance for other motorists but it can also create a real safety risk to other road users and even pedestrians.

“When a motorist is found to be in breach of a parking restriction, they can be dealt with in a number of ways. They can be given advice and warning, issued with a fixed penalty notice or in certain circumstances can be brought before a court.

“We are asking all motorists in the local area to help us tackle this problem by parking within the restrictions that are in place throughout the town.”
