TALENT SHOW A HUGE SUCCESS
LAST week's Mid-Summer Hooley Dromore's Got Talent contest has been hailed a huge success, with a bright future predicted for winner Zoe Skillen.
Teenager Zoe impressed judges with her singing, picking up a trophy and 50 cash award.
But top prize for the talented youngster was the chance to press her own CD at Waringsford's 'Bakersfield' studio, home of Derek Mawhinney.
Derek and wife Iris, who together comprise the act 'Tennessee', were among the judges at the local talent show.
Also on the panel were Dromore Councillor Norah Beare and her recent successor as Council chairman, Councillor Elizabeth Ingram.
Event organiser, Mrs. Helen McFadden, said of winner Zoe, "She'll go on to great things; there's no doubt.
"She has a fantastic voice and she was so full of confidence, very, very good."
Helen said last week's contest was very well attended, with a healthy crop of talented entries too.
"It was a fantastic night, and of course, the weather made it,"
she said.
Also among the highlights was magician Andrew Fullerton, who captivated children and adults alike.
Providing backing music for those acts who weren't providing their own, were Trevor Dickson, Paul Lilley and Donald McClaren.
