A local group of ladies have joined together to help Breast Cancer survivors by knitting the hand-made prostheses which fit into bras and are lighter and more comfortable than the hospital alternatives.

Attending the event local Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson invited the group to present to the All Party Group on Cancer which she Chairs.

Mrs Dobson said: “This is a magnificent idea brought to our community by the amazing Joanne Harris and her daughter Hope. I know that Joanne was inspired to set up the group to help her friend recover from a mastectomy and I admire her motivation and determination.

“Those who have undergone a mastectomy after a cancer diagnosis are met with many challenges. It’s marvellous that a committed army of ladies from across Upper Bann are creating ‘Knitted Knockers’ to provide greater comfort and to show just how much they care about others.

“I am delighted the they have already arranged a ‘Knit In’ in the Craigavon Civic Centre for Saturday 27 August and I encourage anyone who wants to join in to answer the call!”
