Work to patch up the Dunkirk Road, Waringstown was set to begin yesterday (Monday).
The move was welcomed by DUP Councillor Mark Baxter and MLA Carla Lockhart.
“This has been a hard fought battle but we are relieved that Road Service has acceded to our numerous requests,” said a joint statement, “and has agreed to address the awful state the road is in. While it’s not being resurfaced, we are assured that there is to be ‘substantial patching with a view to dress the road next year.’
“Some rural roads are particularly bad and we have lobbied hard for resurfacing right across the area.
“We have sought assurances that in this year serious consideration will be given to resurfacing problem roads.”
