Drive for road improvements

MLA Carla Lockhart has highlighted how much Transport NI has spent on vehicle repairs as a result of damage caused by road defects.

In response to a question from the Upper Bann MLA Infrastructure Minister, Chris Hazzard, figures were revealed showing over £90,000 spent between 2011 – 2015.

Speaking on the figures Carla Lockhart said: “I have long campaigned for road improvements and these figures highlight that there is a lot of work still to be done.

“I will be lobbying the department to ensure Upper Bann is foremost in the spending on road improvements. The Minister also agreed in the Assembly to visit Upper Bann and in particular the Bannfoot.

“If you want to highlight areas which need attention in the constituency contact my office and I will get this addressed,” she added.
