Investment at Outlet '˜peri peri' good news

Taste buds of peri peri chicken lovers are tingling as speculation rises that Nandos may be one of two international restaurant chains set to arrive at the Outlet under a £1.5million investment injection, expected to create around 50 new jobs.

Outlet owner, Lotus Group, has confirmed they are at an advanced stage with two very well-known international restaurant brands, but have said they are unable as yet to announce who the chains will be.

A peri peri sign however, along with a logo that bears striking similarity to that of Nandos - the restaurant famed for it’s Portuguese flame-grilled peri peri specialty, are depicted in artist’s impressions. It is this that has sparked hopes for Nandos enthusiasts.

Under the financial boost there will also be enhancements to the public realm, adding to the attractive layout.

The investment comes at a time when the Outlet has experienced a 10% increase in footfall since last year.

This will bring the total amount of investment spend at The Outlet this summer to £6million, after the £4.5 million investment in the recently opened, eight-screen, Omniplex Cinema.

Alastair Coulson, Director of Property at The Lotus Group, said this further significant investment reflects the confidence they have in the reshaping of The Outlet.

“This is the first stage of our ambitious plans to re-invigorate the leisure, food and beverage and retail offer and it is our intention to move forward quickly and build on our success.

“We already have planning permission for the redevelopment of the units but some final tweaks means that we are only a matter of weeks away from full sign off and then we are ready to go.”

“Our footfall figures show that shoppers and visitors are picking The Outlet and we are making sure that we can attract them back time and again with further investment in the scheme.”

Lotus hope to announce who the restaurant chains will be, in the near future.
