An evening of music, laughter and fabulous food is being organised by Banbridge District Council Chairman, Councillor Olive Mercer, all in the name of a very good cause.
The Belmont Hotel, Banbridge is the venue for the Chairman’s Charity Dinner in aid of Crohn’s and Colitis Research UK which takes place on Wednesday April 30, 2014.
The evening will commence with a wonderful wine reception followed by a sumptuous five course dinner.
Entertainment will be provided by star of BBC’s Give My Head Peace, Tim McGarry. The Hole in the Wall Gang funny man will be serving up a feast of fun guaranteed to have you howling with laughter.
Music will be provided by the very talented Newbridge Integrated College Choir and Dromore High School Orchestra.
Speaking of the event Councillor Mercer said: “I am delighted to host this charity dinner and invite everyone to join me for what promises to be a very enjoyable evening.
“Whilst fun and good food are the order of the day, the main reason for the event is to raise awareness and much needed funds for this very important cause. Crohn’s and Colitis can have a huge impact and the effect on education, work, social and family life can be devastating.
“Hopefully we can play our part and go a little way in helping sufferers of this life changing condition”.
Crohn’s and Colitis are inflammatory bowel diseases which effect people of all ages.
The illness lasts a lifetime and at present there is no known cure. Around 240,000 people in the UK suffer from this terrible condition with more being diagnosed each year.
Crohn’s and Colitis UK is the major UK charity offering information and support to people affected by these conditions.
They also raise awareness, campaign for better health care and fund vital research.
Tickets for the Chairman’s Charity Dinner are priced £35 and they are available from Banbridge District Council Members Services Department, phone number 028 4066 0602.
