Last Friday and Saturday saw the streets of the town flushed with pink as a variety of events took place to raise funds for breast cancer research.

Members of the Banbridge Action Cancer Group have been working hard over the past few months and were delighted to see their plans coming together.

Praising all those involved, local MP David Simpson said: “This weekend was a wash of pink in Banbridge and I was proud to see and experience the community spirit throughout the town as everyone came together to support our cancer charities.

“Through the hard work and dedication of Action Cancer Banbridge, traders, shoppers and the local community this event has gone from strength to strength locally over the years.

“Their work has allowed for a highly successful fundraising event for this worthy cause that touches everyone’s heart.

“Well done to the people of Banbridge who have once again exceeded themselves in helping others.”

It was this event, which first ran in Banbridge a few years back, that inspired Action Cancer headquarters to make it a Province widefundraiser and use it as their launch for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
