Control your long-term condition

ADVERTORIAL

ARE you living with a long term condition?

At Arthritis Care, we know how difficult it can be to cope with daily life and activities. For many years, we have been supporting people with arthritis (and more recently, people with a wide variety of long-term conditions) to better manage their condition, pain and thereby improve their quality of life.

Arthritis Care Northern Ireland is running a six week self-management course in Belmont Hotel, Banbridge commencing on Wednesday, 6 February, from 10.30am–1pm.

‘Challenging Your Condition’ is free to anyone over 18 years, living with a long term condition eg. arthritis, diabetes, MS, epilepsy, Parkinsons, etc.

The courses are delivered by highly trained volunteers, all of whom are living with a long-term condition.

This course enables participants to take control of their condition and improve their quality of life. By attending the six week programme you will learn how to manage your symptoms on a day to day basis and regain independence. The topics discussed include pain management; controlling fatigue; healthy eating; exercise; relaxation; and working more closely with your health care professionals.

Our self-management courses have been tried and tested and some participants who recently attended a course reported: “The course has given me more self-esteem and I have met people with similar problems to myself. I now understand that I am not alone and there are people out there whom I can talk to.

“This course has helped me to realise that I can help myself in lots of different ways.”

The ‘Challenging Your Condition’ course - will be held in the Belmont Hotel, Banbridge commencing on Wednesday, 6 February, from 10.30am–1pm. Sessions run weekly for six weeks, each one lasting two and a half hours.

To secure your free place on the course contact Yvonne on 028 9078 2940 or yvonnek@arthritiscare.org.uk.

Further information on training and other services provided by Arthritis Care can be found on www.arthritiscare.org.uk.

This course has been funded by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.
