AMATEURS STICK FIVE PAST WARREN
Dromore Amateurs U13 A 5 Warren 0
DROMORE Amateurs Youth Under 13's faced Warren, who started the game with maximum points, on Saturday.
And the locals played their best football of the season with a very professional and emphatic 5-0 win.
Dromore kicked off and made their intentions known by pinning their opponents in their own half straight from the whistle.
The pressure seemed to rock Warren who simply couldn't get out of their own half.
Dromore could have went ahead in the first five minutes when the ball fell to the usually lethal and leading goal scorer Neill but he shot rather tamely and the opposing keeper smothered the ball.
The locals were not to be undone and Green scored a great goal at the back post lashing the ball past the keeper and high into the net.
Warren tried to force their way into the game but with Gibson, Henderson and Moore controlling central midfield they were limited in their ventures into the Dromore danger area.
Dromore were creating chances at will and increased their lead with fine patient build up play that seen McCutcheon react first and stroke home a Neill shot that crashed of the crossbar.
They were more than comfortable and the rear guard of Davis, Walker and McMurtry protected Walsh in nets who was virtually a spectator for most of the half although dealing confidently with anything that did squeeze through.
The second half got under way in similar fashion as the first with Dromore pressing looking to increase the lead and the wingbacks of McCutcheon and Green were causing havoc on the wings it appeared only a matter of time before the score line would increase.
Try as they did the Dromore strikers were combining well up front but at this stage nether had registered on the score sheet however their hard work did pay off when both scored in quick succsesion to effectively kill the game off as a contest with two clinical finishes.
Dromore replaced wing backs McCutcheon and Green with Hunt and Gorman and added number five soon after when the impressive Henderson finished of inside the box to round up the scoring . Henderson was replaced by Hooke and Neill and Young replaced by Harrison and Elliott.
They continued to pile on the pressure and efforts from Hunt and Moore were unlucky to pass the wrong side of the posts and they finished with a flurry of corners but couldn't add to the score line.
A Dromore official commented after the game that this was very professional performance from the team and credit must go to the players who were outstanding.
"Before the match we asked for a positive reaction following last weeks defeat at Tollymore and feel that the guys responded terrifically," they said.
