DEFENSIVE GAME CRUMBLES FOR SECONDS

Armagh 4 Dromore Ladies Seconds 0

ARMAGH was the venue for the latest outing for the Halfway House Dromore Ladies Seconds.

Dromore knew this was going to be a tight game and therefore played defensively with four in midfield – Emily Alexander, Rachel Morrow, Janine Davis and Kerri McDonald.

They were able to hang on under pressure until the 15th minute when Armagh attacked down the left and broke the deadlock.

Dromore kept playing hard until half time. In the second half, Dromore started with a good attack where Kerri McDonald played a through ball to the forwards - Shannon Brush, Rachelle Adams and Emma McNickle.

A strike from Shannon Brush forced the keeper to make a good save.

Dromore kept playing on but Armagh kept up the pressure and with a lucky break scored their second goal. After this Dromore decided to change back to their traditional formation of 3, 3, 4.

This seemed to work as Dromore picked their game up, winning several short corners but with no success.

With a 2-0 lead Armagh continued turning the screw and scored another two goals with well worked play.

Dromore still created the odd chance which lead to Emma McNickle going one on one with the keeper.

Emma McNickle's chance was smothered by the keeper who made an excellent save, making the final score 4-0 to Armagh.

Dromore coach Ashley Ward would like to thank the defence of Chelsea Whan, Emma Maguire, Julie Anderson and Louise McClurg for their hard work, especially in defensive short corners of which Armagh were only able to convert one of several chances.

The coach though it was a good character building game.
