Banbridge Town B U17s demolish Downshire

The confidence was oozing from a Town side who had the measure of their opponents early on.

With Town looking the more likely to score, the first goal came after 20 minutes when Josh Dennison delivered a free kick for captain Jake Laffin to head his team ahead.

Downshire responded with a rare attack, which won them a penalty on 25 minutes which they converted to level the scores. Banbridge were not shaken at all, and put themselves ahead again on the half hour mark.

Jake Dermott’s cleared corner found its way back out to the left back, with him finding Jordan Walker at the back post to take one touch before hammering a left footed volley into the net via the post.

Town had a third goal and a cushion when they Left back Jake Dermott scored directly from a corner.

Jake Dennison suffered a serious ankle injury only minutes after coming on as his morning being harshly cut short. The Town boys rallied after an unsettled period after the injury to their teammate, and with 15 minutes to play, netted a further three goals.

Sam McCallister scored the fourth for Town before adding another when he rose highest to meet a Town corner and head home.

Jake Laffin rounded off the scoring for Banbridge with a wonderful 30 yard free kick.

Downshire scored a rebounded effort to leave the game at 6-2.

Man of the match was Jordan Walker.
