Cloney mowed down by late winner in seven goal thriller

Donaghloney went down 4-3 to Mowhan on Saturday in a thrilling but ultimately disappointing match for the hosts.

They started brightly and took the lead after two minutes when a speculative Leckey shot from 20 yards somehow squirmed through the visiting keeper.

However, Mowhan soon to get a foothold in the game and on 20 minutes levelled with well worked goal. They were soon to score their second with a quick break to the by-line as Cloney seemed to have completely lost their composure.

Cloney managed to reassert themselves to draw level with 35 minutes gone, Knox heading home a Shields corner. They were soon in front again as Leckey scored from close range after the keeper spilled an effort from Shields.

Mowhan started the brighter in the second period and levelled the game once again at 3-3 with a speedy break from the halfway line and great finish from a tight angle. Mowhan pressurised Cloney throughout the half as they exerted sustained pressure.

With 20 minutes remaining, Cloney were forced to play with 10 men as Sterritt left the field injured and all subs already used. Mowhan soon took advantage with the winner and the goal of the game. A ball rolled across, was struck first time from 25 yards and arrowed into the top corner.

Cloney threw caution to the wind and created a number of chances with the best seeing Knox put a free header from a corner wide of the post.
